I made a few more tea sandwiches to show you. I’m not going to claim they are healthy. Watercress is very peppery and the cream cheese and bread tames it.
I picked up the ingredients at my co-op, which sells high quality natural and organic food. The cream cheese is from Willapa Hills Creamery and is really good.

As a child I remember plucking watercress fresh from our creek and chewing on it. Now as an adult the addition of cream cheese and bread sounds delicious.
What a wonderful memory, Laurie, thanks for sharing. It’s not something we can do today due to potential bacterial contamination of the water. I remember dipping my tin cup into a stream and drinking when we were backpacking, now we can’t do that anymore either. Now that I’ve got my feet wet on the tea party thing, I want to throw another one at a time you can come.
I love this recipe, but I Did add Thinly sliced cucumbers that were peeled and seeded. I also put in 2 tsp. of powdered Hidden Valley ranch dressing in the cream cheese. I knew the people that were coming were die hard Hidden Valley ranch people and they were amazed at the sandwiches.
Hi Janet, thanks for letting me know you enjoyed the recipe, that makes it worth if for me to maintain this blog! Thinly sliced cucumbers are certainly classic in tea sandwiches. The cucumbers and the Ranch Dressing powder were good upgrades for this recipe. You sound like a talented chef and hostess, I’m glad your guests enjoyed!
